HITACHI POSITIONS ITSELF FOR LEADING EDGE SERVO TECHNOLOGY

Silverteam have now introduced in the UK Hitachi’s range of AC Servo drives, using Hitachi’s patented Advanced Drive Technology, motor cogging torque is drastically reduced by approximately 65%.

This means the new AD Series Servo is particularly suitable for use in applications where high precision positioning and low running speeds are required. Philip Larkin, Silverteam’s Technical Director, has issued a challenge for their customer base to find an application that defeats the versatility of the new range of drives.

A range of application programmes are already written by Silverteam for applications such as torque control, winder PID control and simple timing position control.

Larkin comments “This is truly an exciting product, Hitachi are world renowned for pushing the technical boundaries and are constantly producing or upgrading a product that others have to play catch up with.”

Performance levels for the new Servo’s have significantly been increased by the new 32-bit system LSI with DSP, this in turn assures speed response frequency of 500Hz, this coupled together with high resolution 17 bit serial encoders and a range of low, middle and pancake motors means a versatile package at an excellent cost base.

“Positioning times of less than 0.84 ms are achieved by Hitachi’s Advanced Drive Technology (HADT) and motor noise has been reduced by 6 dB on previous models”, the ADAX3 series amplifier has two modes of operation, parameter settings and programmable code functionality.

The programming is made easy by using Hitachi’s “AHF” Windows™ based software program, which allows you to program all parameters, write the programmable code and has the ability to monitor all aspects of the servo’s performance and response times by using a trace functionality. The amplifier also comes with a built-in keypad as standard.

The AD series also features Network capability including DeviceNet™, Ethernet™ and SERCOS™, power ratings are available from 100W to 750W single phase and from 500W to 7KW three phase versions.
