Small Drives Designed To Ease OEMs Workload
July 2007

OEMs can specify the new low cost X200 variable speed drive from Hitachi confident that it is the most feature-rich offering in its market segment.

Covering the power range 0.2kW to 7.5kW, the X200 has built in EMC (C1) filter and emergency stop EN954-1 cat.3, over-current and over-voltage suppression for tripless operation and precision current monitoring for enhanced dynamic control.

Programming and setting is via front-mounted membrane buttons and speed can be set an onboard potentiometer or by analogue or digital inputs, the drive also features built in PID control, DC Injection braking and is available in 230VAC and 400VAC versions.

The drive has many safety and protection features including low motor current for indication of dry running pump systems or mechanical drive or belt breakages.

“These are just some of the technical features, says Stuart Harvey of Hitachi’s Drives and Automation Company for the UK, Silverteam. “They are what OEMs around the world have told us are the most important features for them. And we have also designed the X200 so that it is as quick and easy to install as possible.”

To this end Hitachi has separated the power in and power out terminals, to the top and bottom of the drive respectively. Further design details also aid rapid installation.

Part of the design brief was to ensure that the X200 complies with RoHs, CE, UL, C-UL and C-Tick standards so that it can be shipped as part of a machine anywhere in the world. It also complies with current and expected environmental requirements, as these are becoming more and more important.”
